Generative AI in Practice: 100+ Amazing Ways Generative Artificial Intelligence is Changing Business and Society by Bernard Marr

He holds degrees in business, engineering and information technology from the University of Cambridge and Cranfield School of Management. He has written several books and two that I have read include his 2015 release Big Data Using smart big data and his recent book Artificial Intelligence in Practice. That said, this book falls short. I feel this was a rushed effort to get into the Generative AI hype cycle.

So here, Bernard is focusing on Generative AI as the biggest advancement in technology in the history of the world and how ChatGPT is driving this new somewhat magic service. Actually the metrics seem to confirm: 10 million users within 30 days of launch and then a stunning 100 million within the next 60 days. Simply put, the fastest adoption of technology in the history of computing. But don’t forget the cost Bernard.

In the rush for all things Generative AI, this new subset of Machine Learning is driving the AI hype cycle even higher than many would conclude possible. Generative AI can of course create visual graphics, computer code, and music. Seems to be the ‘generative’ in Generative AI.

He is also a contributor to Forbes. Bernard is focusing on strategy, business performance, digital transformations, and AI.

He has certainly advised many of the world’s most recognized brands including: Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Astra Zeneca, The Bank of England, BP, NVIDIA, Cisco, DHL, IBM, HPE, Ericsson, Jaguar Land Rover, Mars, The Ministry of Defense, NATO, The Home Office, NHS, Oracle, T-Mobile, Toyota, The Royal Air Force, Shell, The United Nations, Walgreens, and Walmart.

Bernard has written 20 books having been recognized with the 2022 Business Book of the Year award, the CMI Management Book of the Year award, the Axiom book award and the WHSmith best business book award. I enjoyed reading one of his previous books, Big Data: Using smart big data analytics and metrics to make better decisions and improve performance.

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are continuing to be cited as the most important trend in society today. However, rather than list where AI is deployed, it would be more important to understand how AI was deployed. Bernard is providing comprehensive overviews, including technical details as key learning summaries for each case study.

Latest read: Big Data Using smart big data

There is nothing boring in the established insights and support for Big Data Using smart big data analytics and metrics to make better decisions and improve performance.
Big Data Using smart big data analytics and metrics to make better decisions and improve performanceRead just one ‘big data’ book and  you’ve read them all right? Not so fast. Big Data: smart big data analytics reveals how a well planned understanding of your business can better embrace select data sets for your company, organization or school to not only remain competitive but thrive in the new global economy.

For all of the Big Data blogs, books and white papers that I have read Big Data – smart big data analytics by Bernard Marr is one of the better written books. Many will benefit from this knowledge.

Bernard Marr’s challenge continues to be what most senior managers do not understand about Big Data. And he does an admirable job in chapter six: Transforming Business. There are so many examples of how Big Data can actually re-define your objectives, but many are surrounded by a sales approach I recall from work Apple’s Michael Mace. Michael was Director of Competitive Analysis at Apple and eloquently addressed FUD at a sales conference in the 90s. The same lessons apply today regarding Big Data. FUD is Fear, Uncertainty & Doubt.
